Quote for the day

“The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience.” — Emily Dickinson

This is what I think of on my 19th wedding anniversary. Not something flowery and romantic. Sadly, that’s not how I roll. I’m sure there are countless quotes out there in the universe about love and marriage and all that mushy stuff. My tastes, however, run to Miss Dickinson and her adage. This quote always makes me think about a door flung wide open and a million different possibilites — all of them fabulous — tripping over each other trying to get in.

Different strokes, y’all.

Great quote– for all of life, of which marriage is often a large part. Often it’s not flowers and mush, but someone helping you get through really tough times. And tryihg to weather something new, and really hard, together. Our 19th anniversary is two months away, and the breast cancer aftermath has made it a tough road for the past year and a half. Cancer is a tough thing to “share”. I’m so glad you seem to be navigating it together. Breast cancer takes its toll on everyone in the household. I’ve tried to put myself in my husband’s shoes and imagine his fear of having your spouse die–That helped me understand a few things about how he dealt with it. Best wishes to you both for happiness.

  5. I agree – it’s a wonderful quote Nancy – and far more appropriate to life than much of what passes for Hallmark “love poetry”. Happy Anniversary to you both. Marie x
